what is the media terminology for parts of a magazine cover for example masthead, sell lines etc…?
i am doing GCSE media studies and have to annotate and analyse a magazine cover
masthead – magazine title on top of the cover
dateline – date of the magazine along with the publication’s price
selling line – magazine’s motto (if it has one) underneath the masthead (ex. “The Latest Entertainment News Now”)
main image – biggest picture on the cover of the magazine
coverlines – blurbs advertising the other topics featured inside of magazine, usually on the left and right sides of the cover (“Charlie Sheen’s Custody Case,” “Angelina’s New Tattoo”)
bar code – the UPC code scanned by cashiers when they sell the magazine
