"I can get a degree in English to a journalist?
I am applying to four campuses of the University of California, near Los Angeles. One of them has a degree in literary journalism that would apply, but others did not graduate specific period, but are in English. Is this a good degree to become a journalist? I also want to be a magazine journalist, or maybe radio journalist myself, I would like the opportunity to do both. "I can have an English degree or literary journalism and get a job in journalism? I chose these four campuses for several reasons, but mainly because I live in the area Los Angeles, this is where I want to go to school and is not changing. But I have to write about why I chose my title in my essay, and I wonder if these three campuses goinng wonder why I chose to school, if they have a specific degree in journalism, unless English is OK. Please, please can anyone help?
Yes, an English degree will be an asset in journalism. Literary work and journalism. You'd be surprised how many journalists – Particularly in broadcasting – you can not write very well. A number have degrees or English history. However … … speaking from experience because I worked in the media … Journalism – Press, TV and radio – can be a very complex and there are many nuances (like the AP writing style, inverted pyramid of legality, etc) and technical issues that you learn a degree in English. You have to do an internship at a newspaper or television newsroom to learn and develop these few industry credibility in the real world. Otherwise, you're going to be another poor, starving writer looking for a job. Do not try to discourage you, it's just reality (Or was when I was there). Is there a Community College with a journalism program or graduate program in journalism in the region? Maybe even a vo-tech program of broadcasting? These additions could be useful for high school. Good luck at school.
