I'm in my last year of education degree and want to go to college to obtain an adequate level and possibly find a job with a company magazine. I live in eastern British North (Newcastle). I can not go to college to home because of family problems. Has anyone advice on what is the best way to go because if you want to get into magazine journalism and what Univerisity in northeast England have a good reputation? Thanks:) xoxox
Journalism Review (What I assume you mean by work with a business magazine? While there are dozens to other work in magazines) is a highly competitive field. There are several ways, none of which will be easy. The first is to obtain a diploma (a grade) and throughout their time doing work experience in magazines in the UK in the selected area. Then, when you have finished making more work experience – Who is likely to be paid. Stay on unpaid work, perhaps for many months, until a job offer. Sound hard / unavailable? Yes, but tends women to go glossy, and others. Another is to make a magazine journalism course at an accredited university that teaches that. There are only two, both in London – City University College London and printing. Yes there are other places to teach, but look closely at their employment figures. Unless one of them has improved recently, you see that are very low. Do not waste your money on an unapproved route – actively damage your job prospects rather than help the National Council for the Training of Journalists of the program – the only way to become a qualified journalist. You can do that with or postgraduate degree (ie, get a degree in any subject, and then specialize later – which tends to offer the highest rate of employment opportunities). NCTJ courses vary – the best have an employment rate of almost 100%. Do not accept anything less. These courses are usually of a photojournalism magazine in place, but many people are taken from the magazine The other route is to be a good writer and a specialist knowledge.
